How to Beat those Monsoon Blues

As beautiful as the rain can be, it can become a little bit depressing, especially if you’re indoors a lot. During the monsoon, it’s very likely for the grey weather to affect your mood and get you down. We believe that it’s possible to find a silver lining no matter how cloudy the sky so here are our tips on how to beat those rainy day blues!

Hang Out

The best way to get your mind off something that is bothering you is to find some friends and distract yourself. Call a few friends over and order in your favourite snacks while bingeing on a fun show like Friends or The Office. We love the combination of comedy and comfort food and feel like this is a sure-fire way to get over those monsoon blues.

Get Active

Exercise is one thing that can cure almost anything! The endorphins that are released when you sweat have been proven to make you feel better. Creating a positive mindset is the most important thing to do when you’re feeling low and working out can do that. For an even better way to do this, we recommend signing up for a group workout like yoga or a bootcamp where you can meet other people while getting fit. Not only will you feel better, you’ll look great as well

Take A Day Off

Sometimes you just need time alone. We are so over-connected, between email and WhatsApp that it’s nice to disconnect and unwind. If you are feeling overwhelmed and stressed out, maybe just take a day to do your favourite things such as curling up in bed in your Dandelion cotton pyjamas. Have a look at our Rainy Day Movies or Summer Reading list for some inspiration!

Express Yourself

If you’ve got something on your mind, the best way to deal with it is to let it all out. You can do this through art, writing, poetry, music or dance. You can even find your own way to share your thoughts in a private or public forum. By sharing how you feel to someone or no one at all, you will feel a slight sense of relief. It’s so easy to get caught up in your own head and thoughts that we lose a sense of perspective at times.

No matter how grey it gets outside, it’s important to maintain a positive and colourful attitude because we all know how lucky we are! Maintain a gratitude journal and always take time out to count your blessings.
